Recommended Article: Eight “Thank You” Videos Created by Nonprofits

Published on March 20, 2012 by

Nonprofit Tech 2.0 published this article yesterday. We thought it was a good idea and a great way to say thank you to your donors! “With each passing day your supporters, donors, activists and sponsors are becoming overwhelmed by the barrage of tweets, status updates, text messages, and emails being thrown at them on a daily basis. As a result, text-based “Thank You” messages are often unread and overlooked. That said, a video can often communicate your appreciation better than the written word and the eight videos below will help inspire your nonprofit to create a “Thank You” video. While

Volunteers are Fantastic

Published on March 7, 2012 by

A great article was published in the Washington Post a few weeks ago by Jean Case of the Case Foundation in Washington, D.C. The article was titled Keep the Cash, give us talent. I really like this article because I’ve had some great experiences as a volunteer and some really bad ones. I’ve also had some really fantastic times managing volunteers and some times where I wanted to pull my hair out and throw everyone out of the building. This article gives me an opportunity to talk about this topic. Here’s the deal – as a nonprofit leader – if

Multi Channel Giving Infographic

Blackbaud published this chart, or infographic, Multi Channel Giving recently showing the relationship between offline and online fundraising. What this so clearly shows is that although offline giving continues to dominate, online giving is growing. According to the Blackbaud’s study multi-channel, those who give both online and off, are the donors who are most likely to give the more over time. We’ve known for a long time that the Internet opens the door for a completely different way of providing help to individuals and organizations in need. That’s why we decided to turn years of accumulated knowledge and experience to

Videos for Fundraising

By Bradley Burck, MA I’ve seen a lot of really bad development videos in the last several years. My heart kinda breaks when I see non-profit leaders investing time and money into creating a video without really thinking through the purpose of that video and how it will be used. There is no doubt about it: Video is a powerful tool in the hands of a fundraiser. They can tell a story and paint a picture that tug at the heartstrings of a donor, really setting up the fundraiser to ask the donor for a gift. Videos are exceptionally effective

Want Some Response

Published on February 6, 2012 by

By Bradley Burck, MA When you are doing a fundraiser whether it’s door to door chocolate sales, catalog orders, or letter asking for donations there are some principles to keep in mind. 1. Response will come from two things – Volume of asks (the amount of asks made) and Thrust (or frequency). For example – if you email 100 people 1 time – your chance of getting any response is going to be super low. Now if you emailed those 100 people 10x over a six month period the chance of getting a number of responses is pretty good. The
